VAM24 Location:
McCormick Place West Building

2301 S. Indiana Ave
Chicago, IL 60616

Beginning in March 2024, and through the fall of 2024, the Illinois Department of Transportation will be in Phase Two of a three-year project on the Kennedy Expressway (Interstate 90/94), from the Edens Expressway (I-94) junction to Ohio Street. This project will impact traffic to/from O’Hare International Airport to/from downtown, especially during rush hour periods. More information on this construction project can be found here.

It is recommended to fly into Midway Airport, when possible, given the proximity to McCormick Place and the increased traffic from O’Hare. However, if O’Hare is the preferred airport for your flight options, it is suggested to avoid rush hour periods, or utilize Public Transportation, specifically the CTA “Blue” line from O’Hare to downtown.

Public Transportation:

Public Transportation is the most affordable and convenient way to get to McCormick Place. For complete public transportation information, please click here.

The CTA “L” trains provide service to Downtown Chicago and McCormick Place from both international airports.

From O’Hare International Airport: The CTA “Blue” line provides service to and from the airport. Take the Blue Line from O’Hare and transfer to a southbound Green Line train at the Clark and Lake stop. Note, in the Loop the Blue Line is a Subway Train and the Green Line is an elevated train, a free transfer is available at the Clark and Lake stop.

From Midway Airport: The CTA “Orange” line provides service to and from the airport. Take the train to the Roosevelt Street Station (Subway) and transfer to the elevated Green Line Station. Continue on the southbound Green Line train for 1-stop to the Cermak-McCormick Place station.

The Cermak-McCormick Place Station is 2 block (0.15 miles) walk from the Northwest Corner of the McCormick Place West Building.

Please click here for helpful information for using Metra to travel from McCormick Place to Midway or O’Hare airports.

SVS Connect @ VAM - Building Community

By: Kristin Spencer

The Vascular Annual Meeting (VAM) networking event, SVS Connect@VAM – Building Community returns for its second year and will take place at the home of the Chicago

Bears, iconic Soldier Field. All VAM attendees are encouraged to attend on Wednesday, June 19 at 6:30 p.m. Central Time, families are welcome. The event is generously supported by Philips.

SVS Connect@VAM–Shuttle service will depart from the Marriott Marquis located across from McComick Place beginning at 6:20 p.m. The Philips-sponsored event will consist of tailgate-inspired games as well as food trucks, drinks, music and much more. This event will provide VAM attendees the chance to see the iconic Soldier Field before the home of the Chicago Bears is expected to move locations.

“This is a great opportunity for VAM attendees to take a break from education sessions, relax and connect with other attendees from around the world,” said VAM Program Committee Chair Andres Schanzer, MD. “Being able to bring the event to a famous location for attendees to enjoy is a new take on the already creative event. We hope that attendees will feel welcome to bring their families to enjoy all it has to offer.”

The networking event will also serve as the grand kickoff to the Vascular Health Step Challenge at VAM with a fifteen-minute walk to Soldier Field for those wishing to participate. The walk is a unique way for attendees to see the city of Chicago while increasing their step count, bringing them closer to being VAM’s top walker and winning the $100 gift card prize.

Those interested in attending the complimentary event are asked to indicate their interest by logging into the VAM24 registration site. Learn more at vascular.org/SVSConnectAdd.
