SVS SET’s remote digital program is the first of its kind offered by a surgical association 

The Society for Vascular Surgery (SVS) has announced the launch into pilot testing of its Supervised Exercise Therapy (SET) app – SVS SET. The app is geared to helping patients with peripheral artery disease (PAD) better manage their disease at home through supervised exercise as well as coaching and education. The app is powered by remote learning and telehealth company Cell-Edand incorporates Apple’s new mobility metrics tools.

WASHINGTON (June 23, 2020) — The American College of Cardiology and Society for Vascular Surgery are collaborating on a single vascular registry to harness the strengths of both organizations in improving care and outcomes of patients with vascular disease.

ROSEMONT, Ill., June 22, 2020 – The Society for Vascular Surgery (SVS) has released a Clinical Competence Statement on training and credentialing for Trans-Carotid Artery Revascularization (TCAR) to ensure that patients who are at risk of a stroke receive safe and effective preventative care with this new and promising technology by an experienced and appropriately trained physician.

The fifth edition of the Vascular Educational Self-Assessment Program (VESAP), with a substantially enlarged section on vascular ultrasound and imaging, is expected to be introduced by Aug. 1. VESAP4 will expire on July 31.

Several changes and additions, not to mention the current travel situation, make VESAP5 valuable and set it apart from earlier versions.

Registration has opened for 2020 iteration of the Society for Vascular Surgery’s Coding and Reimbursement Workshop scheduled to take place from Sept. 25–26.

Though it remains scheduled as a live event at the Hyatt Rosemont Hotel in Rosemont, Illinois, the SVS is considering adjusting delivery to include a virtual component if local or national restrictions on live gatherings are in effect in September.

In a year full of changes, the SVS Annual Business Meeting is changing, too, with two separate virtual meetings scheduled for 2020 instead of one live event.

The sessions are set for 2 to 3 p.m. CDT, on Monday, June 15, and Saturday, June 20. All members are invited. Only Active and Senior members in good standing may vote.

SVS members voted decisively to change SVS bylaws and permit all eligible voting members to participate in Society business decision-making. The vote came Monday, June 15, during the first session of the SVS Annual Business Meeting. The meeting was held virtually because of the COVID-19 pandemic. 

Officer voting opened at 7 p.m. Central Daylight Time that same day and ends at 9 a.m. Saturday, June 20, CDT. Members may select from among two choices each for SVS Vice President and Treasurer for 2020-21. Candidates are:
